As the world begins to return to normal, and businesses reopen, we are all concerned about keeping our families healthy. Here are some essential tips to keep you and your loved ones healthy as we move out of quarantine.
Stay Home if You Feel Ill
It’s important to err on the side of caution during this time. If you feel ill, stay home. Even if your symptoms are not those of COVID-19, going out with a compromised immune system is a risk you shouldn’t take.
Continue to Wash Hands Frequently
Especially if you are going to the store, use hand sanitizer between touching items and wash your hands as soon as you return. Use soap and warm water for 30 seconds, at least.
Wear A Mask
Although some disagree with the usefulness of wearing a mask, you should continue to wear one when you go out. Wearing a mask communicates to those around you that you are concerned for their well-being as well as your own. You can limit the amount of time wearing it by removing it in your car, or if you are outside and away from others. The mask should be worn over your mouth and nose, and provide a snug fit with no openings.
Maintain Social Distancing
It’s important to continue to follow social distancing recommendations. Maintaining a six-foot distance between yourself is crucial as businesses reopen. Be aware of store guidelines and policies.
Get Outside
Ultraviolet light has been shown to have a negative impact on the growth of the virus, so get out in the sun! The fresh air will help improve your stress levels. Additionally, studies have shown that spending time amongst trees and other green landscapes helps to boost our immune systems naturally! So take your whole family for a hike at LBL or a stroll through the park.
Shop Local
One way you can help your community get back on its feet is by shopping locally. Find local restaurants, businesses, farmers, and more where you can find your essentials. Your business can help another family in your community to recover from the COVID-19 quarantine while providing your family with the things they need. A great way to support local farmers is through Murray Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings from 7 am-12 pm at the court square.
